Who knows what the history books will say about the 2010 Boston Celtics. Who knows what late summer has in store for the 2010 Boston Red Sox. One thing we do know though is that this past weekend felt like the City of Champions was back. If just for one warm night in early April, Boston was abuzz with the glory of a city poised to do something special.

When the final horn went off the score was 109-104 Thunder. The C's have lost their second straight game on this season long six game home stand, but not all was lost. Eight games remain before the playoffs tip off April 17th. Four at home, and four on the road. Big games in there as well Cleveland, Toronto, Chicago and Milwaukee (twice) which will give us the final look at whether the Celtics team will be able to make that playoff push none of us think they have in them.

Last night the Boston Celtics lost their fifth game of the season, leaving them four games away from the 73-9 mark that Rasheed Wallace predicted at the beginning of the season. Doesn't look so likely right now Sheed does it?

The Celtics lost 98-97 to the Philadelphia 76ers in a game that they should've won. Who is to blame? Rasheed Wallace if you ask Frank Dell'Appa at boston.com who wrote this article about the Wallace's ejection from last nights game and he has a point.

OK, I know Rasheed has been a valuable asset the Celtics this season and will continue to be down the stretch, but this is exactly the thing that I was worried about when we signed him. He is a loose cannon and one that could go off at any time and hurt us in a tight spot.

In this case it was only a regular season game against the Sixers, but what if he gets tossed from an Eastern Conference Finals game against Lebron and the Cavs or Dwight Howard and the Magic? What then? Do we forgive and forget?

I don't like to be woah is me, but let's be real, he is who is. The Celtics are not the Patriots who took Corey Dillon and turned him into a model citizen or revived a struggling Randy Moss (until last weekend.) The Celtics are still the Celtics. They can't keep their point guard in check let alone a bad apple like Wallace.

I am not saying let's dump him, I am just saying that Doc needs to reign him in before he gets out of control. If he implodes at a crucial juncture in the season we could be S.O.L. and everyone knows this is probably our last shot at a 18th ring.

When the season tips off this evening on TNT with the Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers there will be title dreams on both sides, and why not?!? Look at the two of these two teams and you will have a hard time finding a better Eastern Conference team out there. There are a lot of talented teams in the East but not many as deep as the two teams kicking off the season in Cleveland. Adding Rasheed Wallace and Marquis Daniels gives the team a scoring one two punch off the bench they so desperately needed last season. The Cavs bring in a possibly rejuvenated and motivated Shaq and I use the word "possibly" as we have heard Shaq say that he is going to do win this and win that before, but that did not happen when he went to the Suns so now can he prove that he is really ready to "win a ring for the king".

The rest of East will be looking up at these to two teams for most if not all the regular season, but I am not sure if I can say the same about the reigning champions. As much as it pains me the Lakers look more dangerous this season than last considering the fact that replace Trevor Ariza with Ron Artest! Fair trade.?.not for the rest of the league. The Spurs are going to be very good and so will the Denver Nuggets, but I don't think any of those teams will touch the Lakers this season.

So my predictions are below for each division and then playoffs and of course the champs. Now I am no "nostrodumbass" so I will do the best I can.

Looks like there is a reason the Boston Celtics signed Glen "Big Baby" Davis and that reason was that Leon Powe was not going to return to the green and white. Today, Leon Powe and the Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to a two year deal for $1.77 million.

As much as I love Leon Powe, I don't have any problem with this deal. Provided our team stays strong and injury free we are stacked on the bench after this off-season and Danny Ainge, in my humble opinion, made all of the right moves.

This move though, baffles me from the Cavs perspective. Why would you sign a guy that won't even be ready until the middle of the season, if that soon. He might be ready to come back then, but will likely not be at 100% until the playoffs, which I guess is where they are banking on him helping them.

Either way, if there was any question that the Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers are the head of the class in the East this year, those questions have been laid to rest.

The Boston Celtics' championship hopes for the 2009 season keep getting slimmer and slimmer and today, with the announcement that Leon Powe will not see anymore action in this season's playoffs, it seems like the inevitable is drawing closer. Don't count them out yet, but missing KG and Leon Powe up front does not bode well for a championship run.

While the C's have struggled against the lowly Bulls at home, it hasn't been the big men in Chicago's lineup that have given them fits as Ben Gorden and Derrick Rose have been the thorns in their side, but when the C's have to go up against Orlando or Cleveland, the lack of a strong presence in the lane is not a good thing.

So with the announcement that Powe is out for the remainder of the season, the Celtics inch closer to 2009 extinction. Don't get me wrong, I am on board with a championship run and will be pulling for them every step of the way, but the realistic side of me has to wonder, can they really do it? I don't know, but I'll be pulling for them for sure.

So the C's have dropped 4 out of 5 and are only a half game up on the Orlando Magic for the 2 seed in the east. Now I know that I said on TNA that we should not talk about the one seed and what needs to happen with that for Celts to do well in the playoffs blah, blah. Let me rescind that and say "Hold on to the effin two seed at least!" Sorry if that sounded a little panicked, but if you look at this little slide that they are on, let's break it down a little shall we.

It would be one thing if they were losing these games to the LA Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, or even the San Antonio Spurs. No the C's are losing to the Magic, Heat, Bucks, and Bulls. The only one glimmer of happiness was a win against the Grizzlies and to be honest watching that game I was not sure we were going to win that one either(thank you Ray Ray) all of this points to one thing and that is Kevin Garnett the Celtics miss you terribly. All of the talk that the C's can win with out him "Look they are undefeated with KG out of the lineup!" those days are long gone.
Trust me I am the first to point out that the rest of the team is not on the up and up either with Davis, Scal, TA, and possibly the other Allen (Ray hurt his elbow last night) being out also hurts this team, but when you surrender 127 points to the freakin' Bulls there is a glaring emptiness in the middle of that paint that needs to return.

We all want KG back in the worst way I know this and we all want him back for the stretch run so that means he has to be healthy, but damn watching these games without him is just painful. So in closing Kevin by all means, get well soon, like by this Friday against the Spurs.

Tonight King James and the Cavs roll into the Garden and you will hear everyone say, this could be a preview of the Eastern Conference Finals...King James and his men versus The Captain...slow that train down one minute. This is NOT a preview. We will be sans Kevin Garnett and we are banged up generally all the way around. I wouldn't be surprised if Lebron puts a hurtin' on us tonight.

In fact, I might watch the game tonight with the sound down because the announcers inevitably will talk about how Lebron James is the greatest basketball player they have ever seen. While he is definitely up there with the greats, it doesn't have to be said on every broadcast. Give me a break!!

I will say this one thing about Lebron, I don't hate him or his talent, because he seems to be a genuine guy who is just a phenomenal basketball player. Unlike Kobe, who seems to be smug and think he is better than everybody, Lebron goes out and gets the job done, night in and night out with very little to say.

So tonight, I think there will be plenty of talk about the possibility that the C's and the Cavs will meet in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals and you know what, that may very well happen and this time the Celtics probably won't have home court advantage, so they'll have to win on the road. Tonight though, will NOT be a preview of that series. Tonight is just another game on the schedule as far as I am concerned...you know except for the opening ceremonies and the horns playing when King James enters the Garden. DOWN ON ONE KNEE SUBJECTS!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWNNNNN

If you've been wondering where the vaunted defense of the world champion Boston Celtics has gone, so have we. Even though they eked out a win against the NJ Nets last night 115-111, they gave up 111 POINTS!! That is very un-Celtic like.

And even Doc noticed it as the C's held two practices and a morning shootaround before the game dedicated to defense and yet the Celts still let Vince Carter go wild all over them with 34 and oh ya, they ALMOST LOST THE GAME!!

How have the C's been doing of late on the defensive side of the ball? Not so great. The C's have given up 99 or more points in four of their last six games. NOT GOOD!! This type of defense is not going to cut it when Lebron and company are on the floor and it is certainly not going to cut it in the playoffs.

Yes, you could point to the missing link of KG not being there to stop up the lane, but guess what, the C's could be without Kevin Garnett for more than just this stretch. I hate to say it, but one twisted ankle in game 1 of the opening series in the playoffs, the C's could struggle and all hell could break loose with an opening round loss. Don't yell at me, it COULD happen. I am of course hoping it doesn't.

All this panic could be resolved if Doc can rally the team and get them to play some defense. Maybe they need their rallying cry from KG...ANYTHING IS POSSIBLLLLLLLLLLLLLLE!!!

If there wasn't a ring ceremony at the begining of last nights Celtics game against the Cavs, I would be sitting here saying, the perimeter game was nowhere to be found, the first half defense was a bit shotty, but you know what, we got the win and that's all that matters. Well, not aaaaaaalll that matters.

Let's be real, it wasn't at all about the win or loss last night at the Gahden. Yes it was important to start the defense of our title with a win, especially against the Cavs, but the spotlight was on the trophy, the rings and the players last night and boy did they deliver. Not since Larry Bird's famous "There's only one place I'd rather be..." speech have I gotten so choked up watching a player celebrate a title. The Truth, who was the Truth last night dropping 27 points on the Cavs and stepping up to the mic to deliver one of the best all time championship "acceptance" speeches, was left in tears as I will admit I was as well. If you weren't at least moved by the ceremony, turn in your green and white and start praying for a Laker's championship (NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!)

So Boston, bask in it. You deserve it. Congratulations, the City of Champions lives.

Are we headed back to Boston? It looks that way. We are down 9 with 4 minutes to go and Lebron has aparently found his stroke. It's not looking good peoples. If we go back to Boston for Game 7, I am a little nervous. Yes, I know we're undefeated at home, but something has got to give. I have no misconception that we are going to play 28 games to win an NBA championship. The play by play guy tonight mentioned that possibility, but to be honest I think it's unrealistic.

The sky isn't falling yet, but we're down 9 and it's not looking good.

This is why I love basketball. The emotional roller coaster that it is. Less then a minute ago I was ready for Game 7 and now, I have hope. As I am typing, Garnett travels, he just missed an open 5 footer and now he traveled.

Wally Can't Spell His Last Name knocks down a three. He has sucked all night and now he hits a three, YAWN!!

Down 7 with 1:19 to go as Pierce steps to the line for two. Two big ones and we'll cut it to five, manageable. He hits 'em both. TERRIBLE CHARGE CALL will spell the end of the game for the Celtics. Now wait a minute. Board for the Celtics, ahead to Allen and he'll go to the line for two. Hits them both. Cleveland inbounding. At the free throw line...hit 'em both. Five point game. Celts ball. GAME OVER.

Final Score: Cavs 74 Celts 69 (69 points? YES 69 points...EXHAUSTING!!!)

I am working on a theory as to why the Celtics can't win on the road. I believe that they subconciously want to make Boston fans sweat. I also think they realize that history is made in Game 7's and they want to make history. Two reasons for losing on the road. I don't like either game, but that's my impression that this team wants to make history and they are doing everything they can to etch their names into the annuls of Boston Celtics history.

It really is exhausting watching this team. If the Red Sox weren't rained out, I might be flipping over to that game even though they have been stinking it up lately.

It's halftime at The Q (for the record I love that arena nickname, it's not the Gahden, but I enjoy it.) Is this really how we're going to win #17? We're going to have to play 4 seven game series? It's almost like everything that could've gone our way did go our way in the first half and we're still losing by NINE.

The half ended with Delonte West hitting a three at the buzzer. Yuuuuuupp!! We were up by six...then we gave the lead up, the Cavs went up by six and as if someone was looking down and thinking, let's just give a little more momentum to them and let them knock down a three at the buzzer. Oh ya, let's also let a guy who used to play for them hit the shot. DWest must be pissed that he is no longer a Celtic because he has had a monsterous series. I don't blame him really. Who wouldn't want to be a part of the Celtics? I don't know many people.

Being down nine at the half is all worth it because I just saw another FANTASTIC Sportscenter commercial...they always knock them out of the park. Jose Reyes is a supahstah...Check out the commercial

I am starting this post before the end of the game. I wasn't going to, because I just wanted to enjoy the game, but there are things I have to say before I forget them so here I go.

- I LOVE KG - There are many reasons to like the guy, but here is the one reason to love him, the Celts make a stop and he grabs the ball, hands it to Rajon and then head butts him and gives him a pep talk in the back court while Cleveland is crapping their pants...I absolutley LOVE that intensity.

- Am I seeing things or is Reggie Miller whoring himself out for Blackberry? Who is going to buy a Blackberry because Reggie Miller said so? Certainly not me. I wouldn't buy an ice cream sundae from Reggie Miller.

- Rajon is out of his mind tonight. Go ahead Rajon show them you're a force to be reckoned with.

- Big Baby is in the game, playing well and who doesn't like this kid? I mean you could hate the Celtics and still love Glen Davis...now if we could get Scal in there we'd be good...too bad he's in street clothes.

- I love me some Charles Barkley especially in those T-Mobile commercials, "hey hey hey, GET ME THEM SOCKS!!!"

- Am I the only one that thinks 19-30 from the free throw line is absolutley ABSURD?!?!?! In the good old days Larry would be shooting 93-94% from the free throw line. Now, in the playoffs, the Cavs are shooting 65%? That is a travesty. However, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Cleveland Cavaliers for sucking at the free throw line, so the Celtics lead sticks.

- I love the Dropkick's Ship It Up To Boston, but wasn't that the Red Sox song? Makes me wonder what it would look like if Big Baby were to do the jig to that song...something tells me it would be a little less graceful then when Pap did it and who would've thought that would be possible. The song is playing on the PA at the Gahden!!

- Lebron just pulled an obnoxious Reggie Miller type move. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!

- We're only up six and Pierece just missed his first of two free throws...ARGH MISSED FREE THROWS, nothing pisses me off more then that. Pierce hit his second, but now we're only up by 5 as LJ gets two. Pierce just redeemed himself by knocking down two. I'll take it.

- Two steals in the backcourt for Cleveland? This is embarrasing. Lead could be four after D West hits his free throws. This is tiring. 45.5 left to go....91-87 C's.

- Oh hey, when we return from this commercial break it will be time for the Charles Schwabb Time To Talk...no, don't change the channel, you don't want to miss this...what's that? The Hills are on? As long as your watching it in hopes of seeing clips of Lauren's sex tape and not because you're interested in the drama...ok, back to the game.

- Here come the Celts inbounding from half court. HUGE hussle play by Ray Allen. The Cavs forced us to take a TERRIBLE shot, but RA ran it down and kept it alive. Kicks it to Pierce and now he'll shoot two. Makes both and we're up six.

Deep breaths, deep breaths, deep breaths.

- 15.6 left to go - West drives the lane and gets fouled. Looked like a charge, but shocking they didn't get the call. Knocks 'em both down - 4 point game. Pierce will now go to the line - Back up six. Five second violation on the Cleveland inbounds and a foul. GAME OVER!!!

Final Score - 96-89

So I just turned the game on expecting a big lead, but wahuh!?!?!?!? We're losing?? This is annoying. Maybe the poll next to this blog post should read "Will the Celtics ever lose a home game?" and your answer might be yes. ARGH!!! I am confident they'll come back, although anytime I put anything in writing I am hesitant about it, so let me just say, I hope they win tonight. We cannot risk going back to Cleveland down 3-2, given our road performance we need to be up 3-2. At least Rajon Rondo is doing his thing with two threes to get the Celts back into it.

I was wondering why during Monday night's C's/Cavs game, Lebron James was yelling at a fan and here is why. Aparently his MOM sits courtside and tried to intervene when King James was fouled hard. She literally got in the face of Pierce and KG and Lebron started screaming back at her. I love this...LOVE THIS!!! This just proves what we've thought all along, Lebron is a mama's boy!!! Going in to tonight's game I was optimistic, as I am every night when I watch the Celtics. They are so dominate at home, how can you not be. The question arises after tonights loss to the Cavs, why are they two different teams home and away. Literally they look like different teams. At home they shoot the ball very well. Away they can't find the bottom of the net. At home they are nasty on defense. Away they can't get a stop when they need it. You get the idea. The C's have been simply spectacular at home and have stunk on the road.

Halftime and we're down 17. Could be worse? I think it could be a whole lot worse. For one, we were down 26 at one point, so that could be worse. The other thing though is that Lebron hasn't really gotten off the snide in this game...YET. I hope he won't in the second half, but as good as the Cavs have played in the opening half of game 3, Lebron hasn't gotten his stroke back, this is nothing but good for the Celts. If he doesn't get it back in the second half, we look good. If he does, we're somewhat screwed.

I hate to cut this short, but Bill Russell with KG...CAN'T MISS IT!!

Shell shocked in Cleveland right now as the C's are down 33-12. Yes 33-12. Lebron is lighting it up and I gotta hand it to the Cavs as they are passing very well in the opening quarter, but let's be honest, if the floor isn't green for some reason the Celtics in the playoffs look like a high school team.

Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson comparing Lebron to Larry, doesn't make me happy. No one is a better passer then Larry Bird. Don't get me wrong, James is a great passer, but LB was the GREATEST PASSER!!!
