Wednesday night was a night 7 years in the making. I took my 7 year old son Tyler, to his first professional sporting event. We saw the Celtics vs. the Thunder. What a night. The only thing that could have made it better was if the Celtics had won. To start the day off, I was offered tickets by one of my friends, and thought that it might be a good idea to bring my son to his first Celtic's game. I called home and asked if he wanted to go. I got the twenty questions, how long would it be, would I have fun, and so on. He couldn't make up his mind, so, because I was given these only hours before game time, I needed to move quick, in order to get someone to go with me. So, I called Timmy to let him know that I wasn't going to be able to do the podcast, and to see if he would be able to go. While I was talking to him, my wife called me back and said he was crying and really wanted to go. It was set, he was going with me.

After a meeting today with Rasheed Wallace, his agent, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Danny Ainge, the C's offered 'Sheed a contract today...UGH.

I guess my plea fell on deaf ears this morning. What's that all about Danny? I thought you were an avid reader and listened to everything I had to say.

Well at least Timmy and Scotty would be fired up...although Rasheed says he is not in any rush to make any decisions. I can't imagine a trip to play with Lebron and Shaq in Cleveland wouldn't be pretty inticing to him.

On Monday's show, Timmy mentioned a rumor that had been floating around the interwebs that the Celtics were seriously considering trading Ray Allen for potentially the 2nd pick in this years draft. Should they do it?

Sometimes when it comes to trading players from Boston teams I feel like a reverse R. Kelly, stay with me here.

MAYBE...Anyway, should the Celtics trade him or not? Get to the point idiot!!

I say HELL NO!!

Why would you trade one of two guys that revived your franchise? Ok, maybe it was three guys, but Pierce was already here, so the X factors were KG and Jesus Shuttlesworth. These guys brought banner #17 to the Garden and for that reason they should both finish their careers here, it's not like they're Domonique Wilkens trying to revive his dead and bloated career, these guys won a ring here.

So, that's the answer that my heart is giving me, but what about my mind? My mind says, maybe, my mind is wishy-washy.

Who can they get at the number two spot in the draft? Here are the likely top 5 picks according to Chad Ford on ESPN.com

1.) Blake Griffin (C)

2.) Hasheem Thabeet (C)

3.) Ricky Rubio (PG)

4.) Jrue Holiday (PG)

You can read Chad Ford's breakdown of possible draft scenarios here, but do any of these names excite you like the name Ray Allen, one of the greatest pure shooters in the game? Sure he may be losing a step, but he can still shoot the lights out at the Garden anyday of the week.

My vote, as if it has any clout, is to keep Ray Allen and the Celtics of 2009 in tact and give them another shot. With a healthy roster, they can beat anyone in the NBA...you know anyone except the Cavs with Shaq, YIKES!!

So the C's have dropped 4 out of 5 and are only a half game up on the Orlando Magic for the 2 seed in the east. Now I know that I said on TNA that we should not talk about the one seed and what needs to happen with that for Celts to do well in the playoffs blah, blah. Let me rescind that and say "Hold on to the effin two seed at least!" Sorry if that sounded a little panicked, but if you look at this little slide that they are on, let's break it down a little shall we.

It would be one thing if they were losing these games to the LA Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, or even the San Antonio Spurs. No the C's are losing to the Magic, Heat, Bucks, and Bulls. The only one glimmer of happiness was a win against the Grizzlies and to be honest watching that game I was not sure we were going to win that one either(thank you Ray Ray) all of this points to one thing and that is Kevin Garnett the Celtics miss you terribly. All of the talk that the C's can win with out him "Look they are undefeated with KG out of the lineup!" those days are long gone.
Trust me I am the first to point out that the rest of the team is not on the up and up either with Davis, Scal, TA, and possibly the other Allen (Ray hurt his elbow last night) being out also hurts this team, but when you surrender 127 points to the freakin' Bulls there is a glaring emptiness in the middle of that paint that needs to return.

We all want KG back in the worst way I know this and we all want him back for the stretch run so that means he has to be healthy, but damn watching these games without him is just painful. So in closing Kevin by all means, get well soon, like by this Friday against the Spurs.

For some reason the Boston Red Sox can't seem to get their heads out of their asses. I can't lie and if this makes me a bad fan, guilty as charged, but last night I didn't watch the whole game. I couldn't bring myself too. We have had too much misery over the last couple of days, this was too much. Wake got shelled? I know I know, he is hit or miss, but we really needed him to be on last night and guess what, he wasn't!! ARGH!!

So, now we are stuck clinging to the idea that we've "been here before" and that we can do it again. Can we? Can we really? I reluctantly say, I BELIEVE!! That being said, there is a glimmer of hope for Boston fans everywhere...who would that be? THE WORLD CHAMPION BOSTON CELTICS!! Leon Powe came up with a crucial block with 4.2 seconds left to seal the Celtics' 90-86 preseason victory over the Cavaliers at the University of Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

Powe also fired off a team-high 17 points and Ray Allen added 15 as five Boston players scored in double figures.

In his first exhibition contest after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery, Kendrick Perkins grabbed five rebounds in just over 21 minutes of action.

WALTHAM - When in Waltham, do as the veterans do.

That's the lesson rookies J.R. Giddens and Bill Walker are learning this summer, as vets Ray Allen and Paul Pierce were in Waltham Thursday going through workouts with Strength and Conditioning Coach Bryan Doo, gearing themselves up for an October training camp that's just a few weeks away.

"This is the same commitment we had a year ago when everyone got in early," Pierce said. "Just because we won a championship -- that's what the Boston Celtics [are] all about. Winning championships. So we're here early to try to do it again."

Allen, who's been alternating between Waltham and UCONN in Storrs, CT for offseason workouts, agreed that the team is showing the same commitment he saw last summer before the trip to Rome, and the new guys are already on the same page when it comes to dedication.

"We're in here trying to take care of our bodies and get ready for a new season," Allen said.

The challenge for the veterans is keeping themselves near season shape throughout the summer, so that when camp hits they're ready to go.

"As most of us have gotten older, you've got to keep your body right at that level where you're in shape, but you kind of relax a little bit and get away from the game," Allen said. "You've got to get away from the game to get rejuvenated for that next run."

After a few hours of workouts that included running with car tires strapped to his back, Pierce organized a pickup game between his teammates. Pierce played alongside Gabe Pruitt, Glen Davis, Patrick O'Bryant and J.R. Giddens, and they matched up against Ray Allen, Tony Allen, Rajon Rondo, Darius Miles and Leon Powe. Highlights of the game included a nasty swat by Miles, and a power slam in traffic from Leon Powe reminiscent of his Game 2 dunkfest against the Lakers.

Kendrick Perkins, who re-injured his left shoulder during the NBA Finals, was in the house for cardio work but did not participate in the pick-up game. Walker, meanwhile, has just returned to basketball activities in the last few days but also did not play in the game. He's been working hard on rehabilitating his knee and says he'll be ready to go for training camp.

"I'm just trying to get ready to contribute," Walker said of his offseason workouts. Walker's been talking to Tony Allen quite a bit about rehabbing knees, since both guys have sustained multiple knee injuries. But he's mostly just been impressed by the intensity of the workouts he's gone through with the Celtics. He's especially impressed by what he's seen from the veterans coming off a championship season.

"It just shows you why they're All-Pro guys," Walker said of his veteran teammates. "They come in and get their work in early, and they have a thirst for winning now. They want to win another championship now." Perhaps Pierce has been most demonstrative in setting the example this summer. When he wasn't encouraging his younger teammates during the pick-up game, Pierce was competing with them in an overhead medicine ball toss drill that's designed to build explosiveness.

While the workouts are serious business, that doesn't mean the Captain can't have a little fun with them either. He mocked Walker's first attempt at the medicine ball toss, and when Giddens asked Doo who won a footwork drill between himself and Pierce, the Truth informed him, "We either tied or I won."

"We're gonna get in shape, get ready, but also we're going to have fun," Pierce said. "We're going to be around each other a long time, get to know one and other, and we're going to have fun and work hard at doing it." Also on the agenda for Thursday: A ring sizing had the returning Celtics giddy about their new bling, due sometime between now and Opening Night.

"I'm exciting to get a chance to see what the ring is looking like. I've seen Antoine's, I've seen Sam's and I've seen Posey's," Pierce said. "Now it's time to see my own. I got tired of looking at everyone else's rings in the summer."

Quite honestly there are too many story lines in this game to single out just one. I don't know if it was Kendrick Perkins' nasty performance that should get the headline or if the resurgance of Ray Allen that should get it, but one thing I know is that the Celtics should've really taken it to the Pistons, but they didn't and still the old addage remains, a win is a win, especially in the playoffs.

Kendrick Perkins had a double double before the end of the 1st half. He was a force to be reckoned with on the boards all night long and he even picked up a couple of blocked shots along the way. He finished with 18 points and 16 rebounds.

Ray Allen on the other hand found his stroke towards the end of the third quarter. He hit five shots from downtown only to be taken out of the game by Doc Rivers to "rest him" for the final minutes. When a shooter is struggling and finally finds his stroke the last thing you want to do is take him out of the game. Keep him in the game and let him continue to stroke it. In fact, get the ball in his hands as much as possible, everytime down the floor. Let him put your team on his shoulders and carry you to the promised land. Luckily for the Celtics Ray Allen is a shooter and not a streaky one, as he came off a screen late in the game and knocked down a key two point shot to put his team up 3 and also had two clutch free throws to seal the deal with with 6.3 left to go. The final line on Ray Ray was 29 points.

This game should have been a blowout. Anytime you have Kendrick Perkins putting up numbers like he did, KG with 33 points and Ray Allen finds his stroke, you should blow a team out. But, sloppy play down the stretch by the Celtics almost let this one slip away. What Mark Jackson would call "the worst pick and roll execution" he has ever seen down the stretch by Rondo, Pierce and KG almost had the Celtics fall behind in this series 3-2.

At one point the C's were up by 17 in the 3rd quarter and still the game came down to 1:04 left on the clock, the Celtics called a time-out and drew up a play to try and give themselves some breathing room. The score was Boston 100 - Detroit 99. The play came in for Ray Allen who proceeded to knock down a two from the corner.

So now, after the Celtics go up 3-2 on the Pistons and head back to Detroit, the Lakers look to sew the series up tomorrow night.

Final Score: Celtics 106 Pistons 102

I don't think it surprises anyone that the Pistons are a good team, but it certainly has surprised me at how good they are. It seems as though everyone that touches the ball for the Pistons is a playmaker. Sure, the Celtics had a better record then the Pistons this year, not by much (Pistons were 59-23 and the Celts were 66-16) and certainly the talent on this Detroit team is even better then their record suggests. So imagine my surprise when we jumped out to a nice early 8 point lead. A cake walk again at home? Well not so fast.

The first quarter of this game was one of ups and downs. The Celts went on a run, the Pistons went on a run and back and forth we went until the buzzer sounded and the end of half score is Celtics 41 Pistons 40.

As a side note, this is why Boston is the City of Champions. As we are watching the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals, the commentators are also mentioning how they were at Fenway Park last night for Jon Lester's no-hitter. This stuff doesn't happen in New York or LA. THIS is the City of Champions and we prove it night in and night out. I LOVE IT!

Back to the game and for me the headline of the half was Ray Allen. No he hasn't lit it up like everyone had hoped tonight, but he has become more agressive. He has taken the ball to the hole and knocked down a few, including a very pretty finger roll down the middle of the lane and Allen has also driven the lane and kicked it out creating for his teamates. I think the media should lay off Ray Allen and let him shoot his way out of this slump. Tonight, you can feel him clawing out of it and mark my words he is going to have a break out game #2 (maybe even in the second half, more on that to come.)

Going in to tonight's game I was optimistic, as I am every night when I watch the Celtics. They are so dominate at home, how can you not be. The question arises after tonights loss to the Cavs, why are they two different teams home and away. Literally they look like different teams. At home they shoot the ball very well. Away they can't find the bottom of the net. At home they are nasty on defense. Away they can't get a stop when they need it. You get the idea. The C's have been simply spectacular at home and have stunk on the road.
