Boston fans woke up this morning to some harsh realities. First off, it looks very likely that the Boston Red Sox will be sending Mike Lowell packing. The trade was reported late last night and while nothing is confirmed at this time, it looks like Lowell will be shipped to Texas for Max Ramirez.The deal is not set in stone yet, but to see Mikey Lowell bounced is just a sad thing all the way around. The classiest guy in the organization and a member of the '07 champs, Mike Lowell was one of the biggest reasons to watch the Red Sox in the last couple of years. Getting rid of him, gives me one more reason to not be upset that I don't have NESN.
Speaking of which, normally I loathe Shaughnessy and his snarky and mostly annoying columns, but I think in this case, he has a point. Read his most recent column about how the Red Sox have "given up" competing with the Yankees here.
Then there's the ailing Patriots who are "rebuilding." Nostradumbass has been talking about the 7 years of famine and the rebuilding that is in progress in Foxboro for months now and the national sports media is getting on board too. Check out this piece on ESPN.com.
As much as it pains me to say it, Nostradumbass might be on to something. We'll have much more on all of these stories on the Wicked Pissa Podcast, but this has just been a bummer of a morning to be cheering on any of the Boston sports teams...oh wait, the C's are still going strong, I guess.

According to our sources, ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Raiders are in the final stages of planning Richard Seymour’s arrival in Oakland this weekend, and the disgruntled defensive lineman will be in a Raiders uniform for Oakland’s Monday night game against San Diego. Oakland apparently did not give Seymour a new contract, nor a promise not to slap its franchise tag on him after this season. The former Patriots defensive lineman was traded to the Raiders last Sunday for a first-round pick in the 2011 draft, but the five-time Pro Bowler has yet to report to Oakland.timmy@wickedpissadude.com

Tom Brady is on the field and back on news stands. He graces the September cover of Details Magazine on sale now. I had just finished watching the highlights from his performance last night on ESPN and noticed the mail had just arrived. Low and behold amongst the bills and junk mail, boy wonder is back in full exposure. He is everywhere! That's right Peyton, I hope you enjoyed the year off. Well the time has come, March Madness is upon us, there are a boat load of college basketball tournaments to watch this weekend, or you could watch some of the Hockey East tournament. The World Baseball Classic will be on all weekend on MLB network, don't forget that the Celtics are on Friday and Sunday and the Bruins on Saturday and Sunday, then Bracketology on ESPN on Sunday night at 6 PM. Although, who cares about March Madness and all this other great sports to watch this weekend? Instead you can check on-demand, netflix or go to you nearest video store and look for some of these great chick flicks to watch with your significant other, Steel Magnolias, Beaches, Pretty Woman, When Harry met Sally, Thelma and Louise, White Oleander, Gone with the Wind, An Affair to Remember or Terms of Endearment. I'm sure if you don't feel like staying in and watching movies you could go to the movies and see Confessions of a Shopaholic or He's Just Not That In To Me. I guess I don't need to do blogs on sports anymore, since it is only Wicked Pissa Dude Radio, not Wicked Pissa Sports Radio. Maybe I will start doing a fringe report on best malls to go to, or the best coffee house to get a non fat latte.
That's it, I am getting rid of all my sports jersey's and t-shirts, turning in my membership to Red Sox Nation, getting rid of my cable box and going to just digital TV. I don't need NESN, ESPN, MLB Network, NFL Network, Versus, ESPN 2, ESPN Classic, SPEED Channel or Comcast Sports Net. I guess we will start talking about how to take care of our lawns and changing our oil on the show from now on. What am I going to do with all these pictures and sports memorabilia? I guess I need to have a yard sale. Maybe I will plant a garden this spring. I don't know what the big deal about watching sports is anyway. I mean I am on a Sports Talk Radio Podcast every week, I blog about sports at least 2 times a week, but I don't need to watch or follow them, do I? Well this is a confused Rubba Shoes Corey, keeping it real?

I knew it. Something was missing. That certain intangible that arrives just in the nick of time when the Patriots need motivation. Enter Joey Porter. The Miami Dolphins linebacker that helped them go 1-15 last season and off to a shotgun 0-2 start this year.Here is what Joey had to say about this weeks game. "It'll be good to go out and get our first victory." When asked how difficult it would be to prepare for Matt Cassel, who he's never played against, Porter said, "If it's not Tom Brady, it shouldn't be that hard."
Thanks Joey, you are this weeks WPDR "Player To Be Blamed Later" for Week 3 of this 2008 Patriots campaign. When will the rest of the NFL learn? I would expect a lot of traffic running right through Joey's assigned gap on Sunday afternoon. That's a shame. Oh and don't forget this pearl of wisdom from last May. "They [the Patriots] cheated, there should be an asterisk. They cheated and they got caught" That excerpt from and interview on ESPN's NFL Live May 23, 2008.
I doubt that every member of the 2007 Patriots had forgotten that comment. None the less if they had, I would be surprised if it did not resurface today in conjunction with his new statements. God speed Joey. You're in for a long afternoon.

I just got in from a special Saturday night edition of "Beer Night" at Scotty Dukes house. He was gracious enough to host the Cotto-Margarito fight festivities. The three under cards left us feeling unfulfilled and I was leaning towards a Cotto route of Margarito. Miguel is historically the more decisive and accurate puncher.
That theme held true for this fight although He was out hustled by the tenacity of Margarito and his desire to impose his will and hand Cotto his first defeat of his professional career. And that he did in a display of dominance that gained momentum in the 8th and 9th rounds. Clearly giving it his all he battled through every exchange and continued to press Cotto to defend himself. He was unwavering in his pursuit of Cotto and seemed fixated on gaining a K.O. or a T.K.O.
This was not going to the judges and in the 11th it was ended as Cotto took a final knee and his corner and the ref stopped the contest almost simultaneously. Nice fight gentlemen. See you on ESPN Classic Wednesday Night.

After watching Sportscenter this morning and having to sit through the painful segment on whether or not Louisville, KY was Titletown USA, I had to try and find a way to end this insanity. So, we here at wickedpissadude.com are starting a petition to implore ESPN to end their search for Titletown USA and officially name Boston, MA Titletown. Everyone knows it is true, but since nobody wants to admit it, I'll refresh their memory.
2001: New England Patriots
2003: New England Patriots
2004: Boston Red Sox
2004: New England Patriots
2007: Boston Red Sox
2008: Boston Celtics
And that is just this decade...nevermind all of the titles that the Celtics have racked up and this is only counting professional teams as well. Please, the argument is over. Sign our petition and send it to every Boston sports fan you know. Let's end this thing now and get it over with.

Saw this interview on Sportscenter this morning. It was good in it's 2 minute version, but in this 15 minute version is fantastic. You gotta check it out. Take a little time and watch it. Nice to get some reflection from the CHAMPS!!

It's halftime at The Q (for the record I love that arena nickname, it's not the Gahden, but I enjoy it.) Is this really how we're going to win #17? We're going to have to play 4 seven game series? It's almost like everything that could've gone our way did go our way in the first half and we're still losing by NINE.
The half ended with Delonte West hitting a three at the buzzer. Yuuuuuupp!! We were up by six...then we gave the lead up, the Cavs went up by six and as if someone was looking down and thinking, let's just give a little more momentum to them and let them knock down a three at the buzzer. Oh ya, let's also let a guy who used to play for them hit the shot. DWest must be pissed that he is no longer a Celtic because he has had a monsterous series. I don't blame him really. Who wouldn't want to be a part of the Celtics? I don't know many people.
Being down nine at the half is all worth it because I just saw another FANTASTIC Sportscenter commercial...they always knock them out of the park. Jose Reyes is a supahstah...Check out the commercial

We're under way in the second half and as is the case with ESPN/ABC/NBA, they tease a big thing at halftime and then deliver about :14-seconds of it, but this was a great :14-seconds. Bill Russell interviewing Kevin Garnett. There was some real power in the interview and Russell said to Garnett that he thinks KG will win two-three championships in Boston (not if they are playing the way they are playing tonight) but he also said that if KG doesn't win a championship, Russell would share one of his with KG.
F-ing cool, I love it. As a side note, these two Celtics greats were sitting down in room with Larry Bird as the back-drop. LOVE IT!!! If they every make this interview available online, look for it here.
