We Needed That One - Red Sox Lose 1-0

A 1-0 loss, mid-season at Fenway Park, not typically a heart breaker, but this one definately was. This had the makings of a classic, with Papi returning on a Friday night at Fenway against the hated New York Yankees, but it was not meant to be.

Beckett only gave up one run, but it was on 9 hits and he didn't look sharp all night. On the other hand, Joba Chamberlain looked sharp the whole night, striking out 9 and only allowing 3 hits. It was, a classic pitchers duel and tonight our ace wasn't meant to win it.

How about the return of Papi? After getting a huge ovation at his first at bat, David Ortiz managed a single, but that was going to be it. There was even an opportunity for Papi to return to form and get a game winning hit in the 9th as he came up with nobody out, but it wasn't meant to be.

A very frustrating night all the way around and it showed when Mike Lowell struck out in the bottom of the 9th and got tossed from the game.

So the question now is, will the Yankees have an opportunity to overtake the Red Sox during this series? It is possible, but I don't think it will happen. Do you?
