The Fringe Report : Weekend Potpourri

Well there seems to be a lot going on this weekend. We have the PGA Honda Classic which will air on NBC Saturday and Sunday from 3 - 6 PM, which does have a few of the more popular golfers in it, but no Tiger or Phil. The PBA (Pro Bowlers Association) has the Don Johnson Buckeye State Eliminator, which will air the finals on ESPN Sunday @ 1 PM.

Saturday Night on HBO there is Boxing After Dark featuring three fights, first is two-time featherweight champ Robert Guerrero (23-1-1, 16 KOs) from Gilroy, Cal. vs. undefeated Daud Yordan (23-0, 17 KOs) from Kalimantan, Indonesia in ten-round junior lightweight fight, second on the card is Victor Ortiz (23-1-1, 18 KOs) from Oxnard, Cal. vs. Mike Arnaoutis (21-2-2, 10 KOs) from Atlantic City in a scheduled 12-round bought and for the main event of the night James Kirkland (24-0, 21 KOs) of Austin, Tex. and Joel Julio (34-2, 31 KOs) from Monteria, Columbia in a scheduled ten-round junior middleweight bought.

If you feel like paying to watch some fighting the UFC has UFC 96 which features Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Keith "The Dean of Mean" Jardine to be the top contender to face Rashad Evans for the Light Heavy Weight Championship. The UFC pay-per-views are usually pretty good. They give you at least 5 fights and have 5 more on the card if time allows. This will be an interesting fight to be the top contender. Jackson is a known commodity but Jardine has seemed to come out of no where. He has beaten Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin but lost to Wanderlei Silva who Jackson just demolished. If I had to pick a winner I would pick Jackson, but something tells me this is going to the cards. Jardine has had some pretty intense battles. For me, I will not be paying for this, I am waiting for the Lesnar/Mir rematch.

Well I hope I have given you something to look for this weekend, other than the big four, for me, I usually watch the major sports, but always need something to switch too, during commercials. Just letting you know that it's alright to watch the fringe sports when no one is looking, until next time this is Rubba Shoes Corey, keepin' it real.
