I can take it like a man, so hurl your insluts at me all you like, I know I am the one that blew it for the Red Sox. I am the one that wrote an entry about the Sox taking over 1st place before tonights game. I am the one that, while recording tonight's episode of Wicked Pissa Dude Radio spoke as if they were in 1st place. So, please, blame me I can take it.
Or...you could blame Jonathon Papelbon for blowing the save in the ninth. Ya, that is more like it, blame the guys who actually played the game. After Jason Bay took a monster shot over the fence to put the Red Sox in the lead in the bottom of the 8th, it looked like the Red Sox were going to be sole owners of 1st place in the AL East.
But then, the usually automatic, Jonathon Papelbon came into the game and gave up a two run blast that would eventually spell doom for the Red Sox.
Yes, the Rays are a very good team. They are a playoff caliber team. They are, however, a team we should've swept at home. But, what's done is done and it's time to move on to game #3 and hopefully pull back within .5 of the AL East lead. Let's just hope we didn't awaken a sleeping giant tonight by letting the Rays back into this one.
